The long-awaited Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) 2015 Innovations Awards will be held Friday night at College of Medicine Complex in Blantyre.
MBC Public Relations Officer, Thembi Malinki, said on Wednesday that all was set for the event to be graced by President Peter Mutharika.
According to her, the Innovations Awards that are aimed at inspiring innovations and promote virtues of national character namely patriotism, integrity and hard work, will be spiced up by several activities.
Malinki said some of the artists set to perfom at the event include veteran Paul Banda and Alleluya Band, Ben Mankhamba and the Jenna Sisters and Lucky Stars Band led by Bonface Ndamera famed for the hit ‘Chinafuna Mbale.’
“We will also have a cross section of cultural dances and we are excited and ready for the Innovations Awards,” she said.
Dubbed the biggest awards gala in the country, MBC is bringing the Innovations Awards having earlier in the year announced that they were bringing back the popular Entertainers of the Year.
The Innovations Awards have taken a similar approach to the ‘Our People Our Pride’ event which was initiated by former Director General Bright Malopa.
The awards have been initiated by the current Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta.
The Innovations Awards will see several individuals and groups being decorated in different fields which include arts.
