Mbeya cling to Sankhani Mkandawire

Defender Sankhani Mkandawire is not sure as to when he will start playing for Nyasa Big Bullets because his Tanzanian Premier League side, Mbeya Football Club, is yet to clear him.

Mkandawire re-joined the People’s Team during the pre-season, but reports suggest that the Tanzanian team is unwilling to release him.

Apparently, Mkandawire is bitter with Mbeya for allegedly breaching his contract as they owe him K3 million.

Mkandawire said he wrote Mbeya, terminating his three-year contract which is supposed to end next year.

“They owe me a lot of money. They didn’t even finish paying my signing-on fees and salary arrears. They are aware of all these things, so it is a matter of pushing them to release the clearance.

“I am worried because I am not playing. I have a family that depends on me. Apart from that, it would be hard for me to catch up with my colleagues,” Mkandawire said.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said they have referred the issue to Football Association of Malawi (Fam).

Haiya said they were supposed to hear from Fam last Friday but the association was busy with Airtel Top 8 Cup draw and the annual general meeting which took place in Lilongwe and Mzuzu on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Fam Transfer Matching System Manager, Casper Jangale, said they have written Tanzanian Football Federation so that they can talk to Mbeya over Mkandawire’s clearance.
