Trade Minister Sosten Gwengwe has disclosed that the Mchinji One Border Post would be commissioned by June 2021.
Gwengwe said President Lazarus Chakwera and his Zambian counterpart Edgar Chagwa Lungu would grace the event.
He said this on Tuesday when he inspected the project which is being financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB). It is valued at K7.1 billion.
Gwengwe said the project is complete and the government is now procuring furniture to facilitate its commissioning.
“The essence of the One Border Post is to enable cross-border traders ply their businesses easily, quickly and cheaply. So, it is all about efficiencies so that the cross-border traders do not take a long time to clear their goods at the border,” Gwengwe said.
