MCP vows to resuscitate agriculture sector
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has said it has the capacity to resuscitate “the ailing agriculture sector and economy” within one year if Malawians vote for its presidential candidate in the May 21 2019 Tripartite Elections.
MCP Director of Economic Affairs, who is also Lilongwe Msozi Constituency legislator, Sosten Gwengwe, faulted the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration for being clueless on what to do to save the economy from collapse.
He said this at a political rally organised by Dowa East legislator, Richard Chimwendo- Banda, at Mtenje Full Primary School on Sunday.
Gwengwe, Mchinji North legislator Rachel Mazombwe-Zulu and Lilongwe City Council Deputy Mayor Juliana Kaduya were some of the notable faces present.
“In those years, even a toddler would tell that tobacco sales had begun because parents bought so many items for the family. But, today, the tobacco industry is dead and buried. Sales come and go without any change to a family,” Gwengwe said.
“MCP is the only hope Malawians should have now because we have the capacity and expertise to resuscitate the ailing economy and the agriculture sector. I, therefore, encourage you to register on June 26 2018 so that, in large numbers, you should vote for Lazarus Chakwera and his lieutenants such as Chimwendo Banda in May 2019,” Gwengwe said.
Mazombwe-Zulu said living standards have plummeted among the majority of Malawians, faulting DPP for failing to deliver on its 2014 Tripartite Elections promises.
