Flames former coach Meck Mwase has said his target is to guide Nsingizini Hotspurs to finish in the top four in the eSwatini Premier League this season.

The Malawian registered his first victory as Nsingizini Hotspurs FC coach after beating Madlenya FC 2-1 on Sunday.

This was his second match in charge of the club after replacing compatriot Gerald Phiri Senior last month.

Mwase said the victory over Madlenya is a morale booster for the players.

“Credit should go to the players for the three points. We have a great group of hard working and dedicated players. We will fight until the last game of the season to achieve our target,” the former FCB Nyasa Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers defender said.

However, Mwase admitted that the race for top four is tough.

In his first match, Nsingizini were held to a goalless draw against Denver Sundowns two weeks ago. Following the win, Nsingizini are on position five with 33 points from 21 matches, seven points behind fourth-placed Mbabane Highlanders.

The Malawian will be hoping that his troops will collect maximum points in the remaining seven matches of the season.

Former Flames midfielder Sherry Msuku said Mwase will do well in eSwatini.

“It is a good start for him and I am confident that he will help the team,’’ he said.

Mwase is no stranger to eSwatini football, having coached Highlanders a few years ago.

He joined Nsingizini on a two-and-a-half year contract.

Mwase made history when he guided the Flames to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Cameroon.
