Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have congratulated Supreme Court of Appeal’s Justice Lovemore Chikopa on his appointment to the position of Deputy Chief Justice.
Justice Chikopa was sworn in during a ceremony that President Lazarus Chakwera presided over at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe Thursday.
He becomes the first ever holder of the position in the country’s history.
In a statement released Thursday, Wanderers said they fondly remember Chikopa’s time at the club as general secretary.
“On behalf of the board, management and staff of Mighty Wanderers Football Club Limited, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your well-deserved appointment as the first Deputy Chief Justice of the Malawi Judiciary. Your dedication, integrity and commitment to excellence have led you to this prestigious position and we are immensely proud of your accomplishments.
“We fondly remember your time as the general secretary of our beloved club where your leadership and vision helped shape the future of Mighty Wanderers Football Club. Your passion for justice and fairness has always shone through, and we have no doubt that you will continue to serve with the same unwavering dedication in your new role,” the statement reads.
The club then wished Chikopa well in his new position.
“As you embark on this new chapter in your distinguished career, we wish you the best of luck and success in all your endeavors as Deputy Chief Justice of the Malawi Judiciary. May your wisdom and guidance contribute to the promotion of justice, equality and the rule of law in our beloved nation.
“Once again, congratulations on this remarkable achievement, Honourable Justice Lovemore Chikopa SC. The Mighty Wanderers Football Club Limited stands behind you and offers our full support as you take on this important role,” the statement concludes.
Chikopa was also actively involved in the formation of Super League of Malawi.
