Mighty Tigers mourn Geoffrey Kachale

TNM Super League outfit Mighty Tigers are mourning the death of their former general secretary Geoffrey Kachale, who passed on at Bingu National Stadium Isolation Centre in Lilongwe on Wednesday.
Kachale, son to former Head of State Joyce Banda, succumbed to Covid.
Tigers Technical Director Robin Alufandika paid tribute to Kachale for reviving the club and pumping personal resources into the team.
“I worked with him here [at Tigers] and he was a hard-working guy. He used his resources to transform the team; no wonder, we won a cup when he was here. Since then Tigers have not won a trophy. May his soul rest in peace,” Alufandika said in reference to the 2009 Tigers glory in the defunct Standard Bank Cup.
Former Mighty Be Forward Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira, who also worked with Kachale briefly at Tigers, was equally shocked with the death.
“Geoff was full of advice and two weeks ago he called me giving advice about this Covid, saying I must be careful. It is so sad that he passed on this way,” he said.
Kachale’s body was laid to rest yesterday at Area 18 Cemetery in Lilongwe. He was born on June 9 1972 and is survived by a wife and two daughters.
