President Peter Mutharika has directed that the late Paramount Chief of the Lhomwe people, Ngolongoliwa, be buried with military honours.
The body of Ngolongoliwa was Monday taken from College of Medicine Mortuary in Blantyre to Mtundawosema, Thyolo District where he is expected to be laid to rest tomorrow.
Speaking when the body of Ngolongoliwa was being taken to Thyolo, Mulhako wa Alhomwe Trustee James Naphambo described Ngolongoliwa’s death as a huge loss to the nation.
“Paramount Chief Ngolongoliwa was the custodian of our culture.
He was always advising us on how to live among ourselves and people of other tribes. I cannot think of a way we can ever replace him,” he said.Advertisement
