National Youth Football Association (NYF  h a s become the second body to dodge nomination for Football Association of Malawi (Fam) presidential candidates ahead of the association’s polls slated for December 14 in Mangochi.

NYFA has followed the footsteps of Super League of Malawi (Sulom) who recently indicate that they will not nominate any candidate ahead of the polls.

While Sulom completely ignored the nomination process, NYFA has only nominated its president Chimango Munthali for the position of executive committee member.

NYFA General Secretary, Thoko Chimbali, confirmed that during the executive committee meeting held over the weekend, they agreed to nominate Munthali only.

“We agreed that we should have a representation at Fam and we came up with the name of Mr. Munthali who is contesting as an executive commi t t e e membe r. A l l the presidential candidates approached us but we thought it wise not to nominate any one for the position of Fam President because we do not want to belong to any camp,” he said.

Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) has submitted nominations to Fam ahead of the polls.

NRFA nominated James Mwenda for the position of Fam President with Daudi Mtanthiko and Lameck Khonje as first and second vice presidents, respectively.

Fam has nine affiliates who will send delegates to the polls. National Women’s Football Association (NWFA) met in Nkhata Bay over the weekend.

During the meeting, NWFA reportedly nominated incumbent Fam President Walter Nyamilandu for the position of President whereas Jabber Alide and Othaniel Hara have been nominated for the position of first vice president and second vice president, respectively.

But NWFA Chairperson, Suzgo Ngwira, said her association will submit its nomination to Fam by Wednesday.

Deadline for receiving nomination is November 14, one month before the polls in Mangochi.

National Referees Association General Secretary, Chris Kalichero said they would submit nominations before the deadline.

National Coaches Association, Central Region Football Association and Southern Region Football Association are also yet to submit their nominations to Fam.

Divisions have rocked many associations on who will be part of the delegates ahead of the polls.
