Miss Glam and Glory Malawi waits for dust to settle

By Fatsani Kalonda:

Miss Glam and Glory Malawi beauty pageant has said the competition will be back on track once the political dust settles.

So far, the competition has identified 30 models from the Central and Northern regions, with the models expected to compete at the national level.

“The political uncertainty had disrupted plans to conduct the search for models in the Southern Region.

“However, we will soon get back to the road,” Glam and Glory Malawi Country Director, Sachin Patil, said.

The remarks were made on the sidelines of sanitation and education materials donation in Chikwawa District, where Glam and Glory Malawi and Beautify Malawi (Beam) Trust donated items to floods survivors

The donated items included sanitation packs and stationary.

Over 600 girls who were affected by floods in March this year benefitted from the gesture.

Girls from Chikwawa and Dzumila secondary schools as well as those from Bwabwali Community Day Secondary School were shot in the arm.

“The donation was made in line with our main objective of empowering girls to stay in school and become independent women.

“We noticed, with great concern, that the floods washed away belongings and some underprivileged girls were absent from school during menstrual period,” Patil said.

Beam Trustee, Dingiswayo Jere, said it was important to reach out to girls in need, adding that this was in line with Beam Trust’s functions.

“Beam Trust is committed to promoting education for girls and other needy students and will, therefore, strive to ensure that it reaches out to as many needy students as possible,” Jere said.

Guest of honour Salim Bagus, who is also parliamentarian for Chikwawa Central Constituency, commended Glam and Glory Malawi and Beam Trust for the gesture.

Dzumira Secondary Head teacher, Msiku Banda, concurred with Bagus.
