Miss Malawi Top 12 off to boot camp

The Miss Malawi 2022 grand finale is getting closer with the top 12 going for boot camp this Sunday.

Tina Kendricks from Alpha Arts, the firm licensed to run the Miss Malawi said Thursday the top 12 will undergo several trainings during the boot camp where two will also be removed to remain with top 10.

The top 10 will battle it out for the crown at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on December 3 where the First Lady Monica Chakwera will be the guest of honour.

Recently Miss Malawi organisers and the 12 finalists engaged First Lady Monica Chakwera to ask for support.

“The contestants are excited and ready for the boot camp. Ahead of the boot camp, they will also go on a boat cruise in Liwonde courtesy of Serendib Hotels just for them to relax before getting into serious business,” Kendricks, a former Malawi News Model of the Year, said.

She said they have engaged different guests to interact with the contestants at the boot camp.

“There is just so much for them to learn including beauty tips, public speaking and early childhood development,” Kendricks said.

Kendricks bemoaned lack of support from the corporate world for the beauty pageant which she described as the face of Malawi and key in uplifting tourism.

“We are still short of funds and we hope companies and organisations will come in ahead of the main event,” she said.

Last week Blueberry Travels as one of their main sponsors pledged a one- week trip to Dubai with all expenses paid for the queen.
