MITC donates PPE to Lilongwe DHO

Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) worth K1 million to the Lilongwe District Health Office to help fight against the Covid pandemic.
The donation includes disposable gowns, N95 masks and face shields for frontline healthcare workers and 81.6 killogrammes of medical oxygen to support Covid patients.
MITC Board Chairperson Karl Chokhotho said for investment and trade to be sustainable there is need for a healthy population, hence the donation.
“This is part of our corporate social responsibility and it is a response to the call made by the State President that everyone should be involved in the fight against the pandemic with whatever support that they can afford,” Chokhotho said.
Director of Health and Social Services for Lilongwe District Health Office Alinafe Mbewe expressed gratitude to MITC for the timely donation.
“We are grateful to the management of MITC for the support that they have provided today to our office. Covid is a huge issue and we need collective effort to ensure that we save lives and our frontline healthcare workers have the necessary equipment to enable them to discharge their duties safely,” Mbewe said.
