Newly promoted TNM Super League side Mlatho Mponela has expressed readiness to compete for silverware in the new season.
Mlatho regrouped three weeks ago in preparation for their maiden top flight league campaign.
Assistant Coach Bothwell Saka said his charges were in great shape ahead of the 2019 Super League season, which kicks off on April 14.
“All our players are fit and performing beyond our expectations. If what we are seeing in training is anything to go by, we will have a good season,” Saka said.
He said the Dowa-based 2018 Chipiku Central Region Football Association Premier Division champions have several players, such as Zimbabwean Silva Chalwe, on trials.
The winger failed to make the grade at Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets last season and was released.
Mlatho beefed up their coaching panel with former Malawi national football team mentor Eddingtone Ng’onamo, who will guide the inexperienced team as head coach.
Southern Region Football Association Premier Division runners-up Ntopwa United will join Mlatho in making their elite league debut.
But Northern Region Football Association league champions Chitipa United will be returning after getting relegated in the 2017 season.
The three teams will replace Mafco, Red Lions and Nchalo United, who failed to stand the heat last season.
