Mob burns two in Thyolo
Two people were burnt to death in the area of Tradition Authority Bvumbwe in Thyolo District on Tuesday.
The two were suspected to have broken into the house of one businessman in the area.
Police confirmed the development but said no one has been arrested so far.
The death of the two suspects brings the number of deaths in mob justice to four in the Southern Region this year alone.
Limbe Police spokesperson, Pedzisai Zembeneko, said the two were in company of about ten other accomplices.
He said the suspected gang broke into the house of a Mr Jumbe but was scared off after the owner shouted for help.
“We received a report from our counterparts in Bvumbwe and they rushed to the scene of the accident. The bodies of the two people have since been taken to Thyolo District Hospital,” he said.
He said police have launched an investigation on those suspected to have broken into the house of the businessman, including those who took part in the mob justice.
“We are looking for both the suspected gang and those who are suspected to have killed the two. Maybe people have forgotten that mob justice is punishable under the laws of this country,” he said.
As we to press, the identities of the two murdered people were still unknown.
