More business centres to open across Malawi
The Enterprise Motivation Network, a movement of entrepreneurs, has plans to open incubation centres across the country to offer support to star t-ups after the group successfully launched a business hub in Blantyre a few months ago.
The business hub in Blantyre provides office space to over 50 start-ups with access to internet connectivity as well as boardroom facilities, among other amenities.
Co-founder of Enterprise Motivation Network, Nick Vilelle, said the initiative has potential to boost entrepreneurial activities in the country.
“T here is a lot of demand for office space. We have people coming in everyday asking for a place to set-up their business. We are now looking for premises in other parts of Blantyre and Lilongwe to open other platforms” he said.
Commenting on the business trends in the country, Vilelle said despite growing interest among entre preneurs, both old and new, the operating environment remains challenging.
“High interest rates are among major stumbling blocks and there is need for concerted efforts to improve the situation,” he said.
