Moyale Barracks explain 2020 squad

By Bernard Mhone:
TNM Super League side Moyale Barracks has moved to explain the absence of nine key players in its 2020 squad released on Monday.
The names missing on the list are Boyboy Chima, Lesman Singini, Mtopijo Njewa, Christopher Banda, Lovemore Jere, Chrispin Fukizi, Juma Chikwenga, Wiseman Kamanga and Dan Katunga.
Moyale assistant Coach, Pritchard Mwansa, said the players were still in their books but missed out on the list on various grounds.
He said Chima and Singini were nursing their injuries while the seven others were on military duties.
“All these players are still ours. We cannot release such experienced players at once. They are all around. The two injured players will join us upon recovering. But those on military duties will miss action for the entire season,” Mwansa said.
He described the development as a big blow to the team in its quest for silverware this season.
“Of course we will miss these players. They have been there for a long time and we know what they are capable of doing. But we have ready replacements and our supporters should not worry,” Mwansa said.
Chima said he was unhappy after noting that his name was missing on the list.
“I saw the final list on WhatsApp and I felt bad upon realising that my name was not there. I have been nursing an injury for close to a year now. I injured my hand while training with the team.
“But things are better now after the coaches assured me that I will be part and parcel of the team. I have played for Moyale for several seasons and I am still going strong. I believe there is a lot more that I can contribute,” he said.
Recently, Moyale Coach Collins Nkuna told The Daily Times that he would form a youthful team this season by offloading several aged players.
