Moyale Sisters win title
Moyale Barracks Sisters have clinched the Presidential Cup championship for the Northern Region, and booked a slot in the national finals.
The finals are scheduled for Mzuzu at a date to be announced.
Moyale beat previous holders, Karonga Queens, 33-22 at Katoto Sports Complex in Mzuzu over the weekend and pocketed K200, 000 for being champions. Karonga received K150, 000.
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) President, Khungekile Matiya, who patronised the event, said she was impressed with the performance of potential national team players.
“But we, as Nam, are saddened that our friends here do not have a [regional netball league] sponsor. So, as the mother body, we will look into that and work hand-in-hand with them [Northern Region Netball Committee (NRNC)] to look for sponsors,” Matiya said.
NRNC Chairperson, Chancy Munthali, said she expects Moyale to do better during the national finals.
