Mozambican giants, Costa Do Sol, have expressed interest to sign Red Lions forward Innocent Bokosi to bolster their attacking force.
Bokosi finished as 2015 TNM Super League joint top scorer on 14 goals alongside Chiukepo Msowoya of Big Bullets.
Costa have written Malawi Defence Force (MDF) inviting the former Blantyre United striker for week-long trials.
The Maputo-based side is waiting for a response from MDF on the availability of the forward.
Costa local representative, Nelito James Pondamale, confirmed the development on Friday.
“Costa has been monitoring the player for a long time and they want to assess him. They are looking for a lethal striker like him,” Pondamale said.
However, Lions assistant team manager, Frank Phiri, said no team has made a concrete offer for the player.
“We are just hearing rumours that he will be going to Mozambique, but there is nothing at the moment. He is a good player and he can play for any top club,” Phiri said.
If Bokosi clinches a deal with the Mozambican club, he will play alongside his compatriot, Chimango Kayira, who recently signed a two-year contract extension at Costa.
The former Blue Eagles forward was last year also linked with a move to HCB De Songo, but the deal flopped.
Bokosi’s physical presence and goal-scoring abilities makes him a complete player.
Costa were also interested in signing Eagles captain John Banda but the move failed after cops refused to release the player on loan.
