Contracts of midfielder John ‘CJ’ Banda and striker Schumacher Kuwali have expired at Mozambique top league side Ferroviario de Nampula.
Banda and Kuwali have since returned home to pave way for discussions between their parent club, Blue Eagles, and Nampula over contract extension.
Eagles General Secretary, Ulemu Kalua, confirmed that Nampula have shown interest in renewing the contracts of the players.
“It is true that the players are back to Blue Eagles, pending our discussions with the Inspector General [Lexten Kachama].
“Here, we only allow our players [who also serve as police officers] to sign a contract of a maximum of two years with a foreign club. We are talking to the president of the club in Mozambique,” Kalua said.
CJ said his performance has improved through playing in the Mozambique league.
“It has been great playing in Mozambique. I am back to Eagles to hear what my bosses will say about the contract extensions. I hope they will allow us to renew our contracts. I am looking forward to a new challenge in 2018,” CJ said.
