MP donates K3m for school block
Chiradzulu South parliamentarian, Joseph Mwanamvekha, has donated K3 million towards the construction of a school block at Chisitu Primary School in the constituency.
Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony at Namanila Market, Mwanamvekha, who is also Minister of Industry and Trade, advised communi ty membe r s to outsource a reputable constructor to do the work.
“I am well aware that Chisitu Primary is overpopulated and, having the issue of education at heart, I really had to consider building a school block,” he said.
Mwanamvekha also handed over two boreholes sponsored by a Chinese company, China Lilongwe Grand Cooperation Limited
“People and animals were drinking water from the same streams and cases of diarrhoea and cholera were many. That is why I implemented the borehole project in my constituency,” said Mwanamvekha.
He said the US$20,000 project symbolized the strong relationship the government of Malawi has with China.
China Lilongwe Grand Cooperation Limited Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Zhang, said after the Malawi Investment forum in June 2015, they opted to invest in Malawi.
He said as a company that has the welfare of people at heart, they did not hesitate to sponsor the borehole project in Chiradzulu South.
The company also gave out K100,000 each to Namanilla and Himanya borehole committees.
