MP for transparency in MSB proceeds’ use
Member of Parliament for Dowa West Constituency, Alexander Kusamba Dzonzi, on Monday asked the government to be transparent when using funds generated after the sale of Malawi Savings Bank.
Dzonzi was speaking in his capacity as Malawi Congress Party spokesperson on finance.
In his reaction to the Mid-Year Budget Review Statement that Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Goodall Gondwe presented to the House on Friday last week, Kusamba Dzonzi asked the government to tell the country where the K9.9 billion from the sale is being kept.
Gondwe has asked Members of Parliament to thoroughly go through his statement to make informed contributions.
The minister was early last year quoted in the media as saying the proceeds are intact as the government is yet to decide on what to do with the money.
