Mr Cool to release 8th album this year

Renowned musician Anthony Mr Cool Makondetsa, who stars with Black Missionaries, has said he will release an album this year.

The ‘Mfakamfaka’ star, who over the weekend performed with Black Missionaries at Club 24/7 in Blantyre alongside Khozie Masimbe, Moda Fumulani and Gibo Pearson, said he is determined to give people new songs, having failed to do so last year.

This will be Makondetsa’s eighth album and his previous works are Tisatengeke, Kambelembele, Maonekedwe, Mfakamfaka, Ndilibe Mlandu, Mbumba Ya Abraham, Fuko Lokondedwa and Ndagwira Mbendera.

“It has been long but, as I always do, I take my time when crafting new songs and, at times, I also have to give a chance to my colleagues to work on their projects. You may recall that Black Missionaries came out with Kuimba 12 and I had to give them a chance and then Khozie Masimbe and Moda Fumulani also had projects,” Makondetsa said.

The artist has over the years served people with mature music through his albums.

“As musicians, we are there to entertain and give people the message of hope, speak for the voiceless and also tackle various issues affecting the society in order to bring about change,” the maker of ‘Mbumba Ya Abrahamu’ and ‘Mu Yuda’ said.

Makondetsa, however, could not be drawn to say when the album would be ready but indicated that ahead of the release of the project, he will drop singles.
