Mr. Malawi contestants to pay
Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association of Malawi (WBAM) will only recognise paid-up bodybuilders during this year’s Mr. Malawi Bodybuilding contest.
Each bodybuilder is required to pay an annual membership fee of K2,400 to be eligible to participate in events recognised by the association.
The annual event is set for October 31 2015 at Mkango Lodge in Blantyre.
WBAM general secretary, Harold Mwayang’ana, said it was a normal trend for bodybuilders to affiliate themselves to the mother body.
Mwayang’ana also stated the association’s executive members set the ball rolling by each paying affiliation fee of K24,000.
“We already notified the bodybuilders about the development,” he said.
Mwayang’ana said preparations for the forthcoming contest were at an advanced stage.
“We want to build on the success of last year. We are addressing the shortfalls which we noted,” he said.
WBAM said they would announce the panel of professional and reputable judges next week.
“Discussions with the judges are on-going, but we promise to have the best to give confidence to all stakeholders,” he said.
Henry Master is the defending champion with Brown Gondwe as the number having displaced Yasin ‘Ichocho’ Suwedi.
