Kanyemba was all smiles after her triumph and said he will use his role to partner other stakeholders to implement initiatives aimed at tackling the issue of suicide among the youths.

‘‘Glory be to God for this success. I did not see this coming and making it on my first attempt is special. I intend to work with various players to find lasting solutions to tackle depression and anxiety which is leading to a surge in suicide cases,’’ he said.

On her part, Kafumba said she will focus on inspiring the girl child to work hard in their studies.

Entertainment Director Nelson Chirwa said he was impressed with the competitiveness of the contestants.

‘‘We have this contest every year but this year’s event was a bit different because we were looking at an important theme of ‘Depression and Suicide’. This was done deliberately,” Chirwa said.
