Soldier Lucius Banda’s son Johnny, better known as Mr Zembani, has finally released his first song titled ‘You Are the One’.
The romantic song was released Thursday as people look forward to Valentine’s Day on Sunday.
The reggae song has Chichewa and English lyrics and sets the pace for the young soldier in his music career.
Being a love song, the message therein is all about love as a man tells a woman how much he loves her and that he wants to spend his life with her.
Mr Zembani has been performing for some time now but his live act has seen him singing his father’s songs.
“I am so excited to release my first ever track and I am happy to share it with you all. I just hope people will receive it well and support me,” he said yesterday.
He said that the song has been composed and written by him.
“It is a riddim by Royview titled ‘Valentine’s Riddim’s and a good number of artists such as Joe Kellz, Godwell Thunga, Provoice and many more. My song and Joe Kellz have been selected as promotion singles,” Mr Zembani said.
He said that this was the beginning of more things to come as, in two months, he is also set to drop another single.
In December last year, Lucius announced that his son would be releasing his first song and that he was happy with the progress he has made so far.
“It has been a process, he has shown maturity and is in music for a purpose. Of course, the direction is all about urban music. It is not only Mr Zembani but also Mr Friday, my other adopted son,” Lucius said.
According to the artwork of the track, the song has been performed by Mr Zembani with backing vocals coming from Cynthia Chaphuka, whereas instrumentals have been done by Trumel.
With the sparkling musical career that Mr Zembani’s father has had, the son has a big challenge to fit in his father’s big shoes.
But Lucius maintains that his son is ready and that he sees him bringing the best to the industry with his own style.
