Muphuwa said as a union, Muana relies on donors, well-wishers and its members to provide financial and material resources to meet its objectives.

“Over the past five years, our members have contributed to the growth of the knowledge economy through Book Development Project which was financed by Kopinor, a Norwegian organization and implemented by Copyright Society of Malawi in conjunction with Book Publishers Association of Malawi and the Malawi Institute of Education,” he said.

The Muana president also said that at the AGM, they felt it important to present literary awards to authors who participated in the project and others who contributed to the project’s success.

“We have been knocking on well-wishers’ doors, corporate and otherwise, to consider sponsoring the awards, or provide financial assistance towards the success of the AGM but we are yet to get positive feedback from any sponsor,” Muphuwa said.
