Mubas graduate launches anthology

Youthful writer Andrew Nyirenda on Friday launched an anthology for poetry titled The Sleepless Melodies at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) Raphael Tenthani Centre of Excellence in Blantyre.
Nyirenda, a Mubas journalism graduate, described the anthology as a collection of constructive and inspirational poems, which are rooted in the realms of positivity and the gospel while reflecting crucial facets of reality.
“I am excited to launch this book and it is all praise to God Almighty for making it happen,” he said.
The anthology has a total of 26 poems and, according to Nyirenda, who is also a mental health advocate, they are purposed to reflect and project elements of reality in honour of Jesus Christ.
Apart from Nyirenda, the other contributors in the anthology are Priscilla Kachipapa, Tuntufye Sikwese, Sandfor Charles Sambwita and Doureen Gombeza.
The poems centre on themes of restoration, hope, faith, mental well-being, peace, love, grit, nurturing and gender-based violence.
Mubas Head of Journalism and Media Studies Department Jolly Ntaba hailed Nyirenda for publishing his debut book.
