Muhammad Sulumba claims a hat-trick for Nyasa Big Bullets
Former Be Forward Wanderers striker, Muhammad Sulumba, underlined his potential when his hat-trick inspired Nyasa Big Bullets to beat Red Lions 4-1 in a friendly game at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
Sulumba was a subject of heated arguments in local football after opting to sign for Bullets at the expense of Wanderers, where he spent a season on loan from Blantyre United.
It was his second start and a third appearance for Bullets.
He came in as a late substitute when Bullets beat Zimbabwe’s Dynamos 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium through a George Nyirenda deflected strike.
At Civo Stadium, Sulumba made his first Bullets start but he failed to score.
However, that was not the case on Sunday when he opened the scoring inside the first 15 minutes with a deft finish.
Former Blantyre United midfielder, Jimmy Chikulekule, who had a stint in Mozambique, combined with Henry Kabichi who crossed for Sulumba to score.
The heavily-built striker chest-controlled the ball, before firing at the far-post with his left foot for the opener.
He added the second moments later when left-back, Emmanuel Zoya, sent a hard-and-low cross, which he easily tapped in.
Sulumba completed his hat-trick soon after the start of the second half.
He was eventual l y substituted for Nikiza Aimable to a resounding ovation.
Defender George Nyirenda wrapped up the scoring while George Hauli scored Lions’ consolation goal.
Sulumba said he was excited with his contribution, but he will not get carried away.
“It is a process. I have to gel with my team-mates and I know it will happen because we need to master each others’ movements and runs,” he said.
