Flames on-and-off striker Muhammad Sulumba, who signed a six month contract with the DHL League side Al-Muharraq in Bahrain, has hit good form after scoring his second goal in three games.

The former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Civil Service United forward answered his critics in superb style with another goal on his second start.

Sulumba was on target as his side thrashed Al Budaiya 5-1.

The forward said he will not relax but work hard to help his side win the championship.

“Being a striker alone without scoring has no meaning because goals are what matters to the fans.

“I want to keep working hard and help my team win the league this season as we are currently a point behind Al Manama who are the league leaders with 31 points,” he said.

Sulumba said the season was tough as three teams including his side were tied at 30 points each.

Meanwhile, former Flames forward Peterkins Kayira hailed Sulumba for his lionhearted spirit as he has put all his problems behind his back.

“Sulumba is one of the clinical finishers we have in the country. He is one of the players we would have loved to see at the national team. I am happy for him and wish him well. At his new club and if he continues like this I see him signing a long term deal,” Kayira said.

In January, Sulumba was released from Wanderers alongside five others including defenders Ted Sumani, Francis Mulimbika, Bongani Kayipa, Joseph Balakasi and goalkeeper Pilirani Mapira.

However, he was Wanderers’ top goal scorer with 14 goals.

Sulumba also played for defunct Blantyre United.
