Mukuru pumps K9 million into Sand Music Festival

In a move aimed at propelling the creative industry in the country, Mukuru on Tuesday committed K9 million into Sand Music Festival.

Mukuru Country Manager Charles Phiri said through their corporate social responsibility initiative, they have sponsored a number of events but this time they decided to reach to the arts sector.


Phiri said this was the first time, for the Fintech business that gives the emerging consumer access to affordable and reliable financial services, to partner with Sand Music Festival which this year will be held at Kambiri Beach Resort in Salima on September 30 to October 2.

“We are happy to be part of this event. When we were approached we had to make sure we put aside some of the resources we have for the cause.

“This is our first time partnering with Sand Music Festival but we believe it is not going to be the last,” he said.


He said partnering the festival will give them a platform for visibility in their services they offer in the country.

Speaking on behalf of Sand Music Festival, Wendy Harawa hailed Mukuru for the support saying it will go a long way in aiding preparations for the festival.

“We don’t take this support for granted for it will help us in our preparations to offer a top notch festival,” Wendy said.

She hinted that they were at an advanced stage in terms of preparations for the 12th edition of the festival which this year is celebrating Africa hence focusing more on African artists.

“Next week we are set to unveil a top artist so, people should just watch the space,” Wendy said.

Recently Sand Music Festival also received support from FDH Bank, Castel Malawi Limited and Malawi Gaming Board.
