Mulanje Last Boxing Promotions has brought forward the double-header bill from Monday July 6, to Sunday, July 5.
Set for New Nkhwazi Lodge in Chigumula, Blantyre, the bill features, Boniface Sitenela taking on George Kandulo while Tinkhani Kamanga will face Aubrey Masamba. Both fights are non-title contest and will last eight rounds each.
Mulanje Last Boxing Promotion managing director, Mike Chitenje, said the change was made to enable the country commemorate together the Independence Day Celebrations set for Monday.
“Much as we would have loved to stage the double header bill on Monday, we think as stable it is imperative that we should join the rest of the nation in commemorating the Independence Day together,” he said.
Chitenje said they could not bring backward the dates because the boxers had been training for the past three months.
“It’s time they settled the score. We should not keep them waiting any longer but they should exchange jabs to see the best in their respective categories,” he said Chitenje is using the bill to develop another generation of boxers.
He said Mulanje Last Boxing Promotions was monitoring the performance of the four boxers during training ahead of the bill to ensure that they were fit.
