MultiChoice Thursday announced the coming of what it dubs the biggest seasons of the Big Brother franchise namely Big Brother Titans.
A press statement says Big Brother Titans will commence on January 15 2023 live on DStv and Gotv.
With the African continent longing for the now forgotten Big Brother Africa which used to involve 14 countries including Malawi, MultiChoice says this special edition of Big Brother franchise will feature selected housemates from Nigeria and South Africa in one house, playing the game for the ultimate prize.
M-Net Channels Executive Head of Programming Nomsa Philiso said that Big Brother Titans edition will run until April 2023 and that the winner will cart home $ 100,000.
“This special edition is a fusion of two phenomena reality shows – Big Brother Naija and Big Brother Mzansi. We are bringing housemates from two giant nations under one roof to entertain audiences across the continent with intense drama like never before,” Philiso said.
“It promises an abundance of Nigerian and South African swag, banter, romance and everything in between,” she said.
Philiso maintained that this is a meeting of the Titans and that the winner will take home a large sum of cash and other prizes.
“As usual, the winner will be determined by the viewers, as they will have to vote to keep their favourite housemates on the show,” she said.
When asked as to why MultiChoice is not forthcoming with Big Brother Africa, MultiChoice Malawi Corporate Affairs Manager Zena Makunje said each season features different regions depending on various factors.
“At this stage, the focus is on housemates from the two biggest audiences which are South Africa and Nigeria,” Makunje said.
