After being in hibernation for about five years, gospel musician Frank Mbando has finally released a CD and DVD of his second album, under what he calls Series 2.

Some of the songs that are in the album are enjoying airplay in radio stations.

Series 2 was released on Monday, November 30, with a strong message of hope— reminding people that God is faithful and that He answers prayers.

Produced by Mac Cathy Mjojo and Evance Meleka, the CD has 12 tracks.

In terms of the DVD, the musician brought several professionals— including Robert Shonga, Shad Mal, Martin Matiya and Kennedy Banda— under one roof. It has 0 songs.

The songs include ‘Yehovah’, ‘Mama’, ‘Gwireni Dzanja’, ‘Odala’, ‘Mwayenera’, ‘Alpha and Omega’ and ‘Rock of Ages’.

According to Mbando, his five years of silence were enough for him to observe goings-on in society, “which is necessary when one wants to offer divine solutions to problems”.

“During my silence, I have been busy preparing good music for my fans in particular and Malawians who love music in general.

“If you rush, you crush. I have been silent not because I ran out of ideas but because I had to prepare the best for my fans. I also believe that God’s time is the best and now I am back with full force and Malawians should expect more inspiring songs from me,” he said.

Mbando added that his videos were shot with utmost skill.

The stories in the music videos unfold around the city of Lilongwe— to be specific, Area 43, Malingunde Dam and Area 9 streets— but one would think they were shot anywhere but in the city famed for its dusty roads. Such is the quality in the choice of location and camera shots for the music videos.

Plans to launch the albums are underway, he said, with dates for the same being cooked.

“I am actually negotiating with some international artists,” he said.

Apart from being a solo artist, Mbando is the founder and leader of Lilongwe-based music group called The Redeemed Souls. It is known for concocting inspirational and worship songs.

Mbando is from a musical background but came into the limelight in 2015, when he released his debut album M’busa Wanga.
