Two weeks after winning International World Games Association (IWGA) Athlete-of-the Year 2015 Award, it is yet to be known when and where Malawi netball star, Mwawi Kumwenda, would be presented the trophy.

Netball Association of Malawi president, Rosy Chinunda, said she was in the dark on the trophy presentation.

“Information is not flowing to us. We are anxious to know when our own player will be formally honoured by the whole world. We cannot wait to see her lift that trophy,” Chinunda said.

She also expressed concern that the Tactix goal shooter may not get financial rewards for her achievement.

Winner for the 2014 title, Adam Ondra of the Czech Republic waited until July 11 last year to get his trophy at 2015 Climbing World Cup in France.

On behalf of IWGA president José Perurena, IWGA chief executive, Joachim Gossow, presented a commemorative trophy recognising Ondra’s outstanding achievements in  2014.

Marcel Hassemeier from Germany received his trophy on March 31, 2014 after winning the 2013 edition of the award.

Going by the trend, Mwawi will surely have to wait for several months before she lifts the coveted trophy.
