A new live music reality show dubbed My Booth that will see contestants from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi race for the crown of the region’s best talent in season one is in progress having started on May 14.

Elation Entertainment which signed the country’s musician Patience Namadingo, led by its chief executive officer Sokwani Chilembo, said on Friday they were happy that the live music reality show has kicked off.

“Episode two which airs on Sunday (yesterday) is audition week and videos were sent through for consideration to pick the contestants. We still need more awareness. People can catch this show every Sunday from 18 hours on Power Television on DStv channel 278 and Gotv channel 19,” Chilembo said.

He said the whole essence of creating My Booth is to bring out the best talents from the region and showcase its sound which is unique.

Elation Entertainment has signed a deal with Power Television, Zambia’s music and entertainment television channel which has now expanded its presence and viewership beyond Zambia through DStv and Gotv platforms to Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia.

“This show is set to showcase music from these countries which has been generated over the years. The contestants will share one house, one band and one microphone for the ultimate prize,” Chilembo, who was in Blantyre on Friday, said.

He said they will have 15 contestants with five each representing each country including Malawi and that the winner will walk away with US$50,000 recording deal and US$ 10,000 cash.

“This is a platform that opens up doors for the three countries because music from the three countries will air on Power Television for the world to appreciate and again, it will also give a chance to budding artists to showcase their work,” Chilembo said.
