My Soul Vocals serves acapella

Youthful group My Soul Vocals on Saturday afternoon won the hearts of the sizeable audience when they delivered an entertaining acapella set at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.
In their performance, My Soul Vocals showed the beauty of acapella when they dished out covers such as ‘Kwathu Ku Ndirande’, by Kapirintiya and ‘Tsogolo’ by Lulu as well as their own songs from their newly released Extended Playlist (EP) titled Warm Heart of Africa.
There are no instruments involved in acapella and what stands out in most cases are the vocals where people appreciate bass, soprano, tenor and auto but My Soul Vocals sugared their set by bringing in instruments in their vocals.
The group also made sure they connected with the audience by involving them in their singing and they did that in almost all the songs.
There was even a special moment where My Soul Vocals had the audience cheering them through when they performed ‘Kunali John Chilembwe’, but in different flairs that included reggae.
Their performance came after the audience had also sampled an act of Nathaniel and Viwemi.
“We are thankful for those who came to people part of this show. I am sure they have been serenaded as we indicated and I hope they have seen the beauty of acapella,” the groups’ publicist and interim manager Chifuniro Masamba, said.
He said this was not their first performance at JCC.
“We have been here before and we are looking forward to more of these intimate shows. We are targeting to being doing monthly events and with proper funding, it might turn into something big,” Masamba said.
He also called upon people to support them by buying their Warm Heart of Africa EP that he said can be accessed in all platforms online.
“This EP is a statement to the people that apart from doing covers, we also have potential to do our own songs. The songs in the EP touch on a lot of issues including appreciating the beauty of Malawi,” he said.
The group’s leader Gulole Furanki said they will continue to be innovative and creative in their artistry and that their aim is to propel acapella.
“We love what we do and acapella is a good combo that people can embrace in this modern world,” he said.
