MyBucks pushes women into financial spectrum

Mybucks Bank is advocating full participation of women in the financial services sector by, among other things, embracing and participating in the digital economy.
In the run-up to this year’s International Women’s Day under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality, MyBucks Managing Director Zandile Shaba said the move is part of the financial inclusion drive.
It comes as a recent Afro-barometer study shows that only 27 percent of women in Malawi had bank accounts in contrast to 37 percent of men.
According to Shaba, there is therefore a pressing need for improved financial inclusion.
“We need to empower women to take control of their finances, and digital banking is a key tool in achieving that. MyBucks is committed to providing safe and secure digital banking solutions that meet the needs of women in Malawi” she said.
She reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to making banking services more accessible to all with no prejudices based on gender, location, or level of income.
