Despite playing 600 kilometres away from home in an intimidating atmosphere, Mzuni FC have said there would be no fear-factor when they face TNM Super League defending champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, at Kamuzu Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Mzuni may have escaped relegation by a whisker last term, but they are a different squad this season.
The students sit third on the standings with 10 points from five matches having won three, drawn once and lost once while scoring six times and conceding twice.
While Mzuni are performing beyond expectations, the champions are yet to hit the ground running—-they are sixth on the standings with nine points from five matches after three draws and two wins.
“We want to maintain this run. We will not be intimidated by the home-crowd. We will just play our game to get a good result. The players have confidence that is why we are doing well this season,” Mzuni coach Alex Ngwira said.
Mzuni have a dangerous striking force of Lughindiko Mushani and Wacheta Mwenifumbo that could give Bullets’ defence, led by John Lanjesi, a tough time.
On the other hand, The People’s Team have scored seven goals and conceded four while placed nine points behind high-flying leaders, Blue Eagles, the only team with a perfect record in the league so far.
Bullets snatched four points from Mzuni last season after drawing in Mzuzu (1-1) and winning narrowly at Kamuzu Stadium (2-0) in a match whose quality was compromised by a heavy downpour.
But Bullets’ Team Manager, Rahim Ishmael, said his side was looking forward to nothing short of victory this afternoon.
“We want to get all the points available in our upcoming matches to move up the table. We are not underrating Mzuni, therefore, every player will work hard for victory,” he said.
Bullets are expected to maintain the first team that dominated Epac last weekend with Mike Mkwate, Dalitso Sailesi, Henry Kabichi, McFarlen Ngwira and Chiukepo Msowoya providing attacking threat.
In other league action this afternoon, Mafco FC host Red Lions in an all-soldiery affair at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa.
Epac FC would like to bounce back from their bad journey in the South last week when Civo United host them.
