Nam veep quits

Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) Vice President Chimwemwe Bakali has stepped down from his post with immediate effect on “personal grounds”.
Ironically, Bakali’s resignation coincides with the return of Nam’s General Secretary Isaac Chimwala, whose silent suspension was also quietly lifted.
Sources indicated that Bakali had grown frustrated with the leadership.
However, Bakali refused to specify the reasons saying he was overwhelmed with other engagements.
“It is true I have resigned on personal grounds but I cannot go into details. As for the leadership it has nothing to do with my decision,” he said.
Chimwala declined to comment on the issue.
“As you recall, the association stopped me from making statements, so I cannot say anything regarding my return or Bakali’s resignation,” he said.
Both Nam President Abigail Sharrif and Vice General Secretary Diana Nkhulembe could not be reached for comment.
Meanwhile, the Malawi National Netball Team will arrive in the country this afternoon through Chileka International Airport in Blantyre.
The Queens finished as runners-up to Tonga Nation during their PacificAus Netball Series debut in Australia.
“Nam warmly welcomes back the Queens who comprised local players, some making their debut international appearance during the tournament.
The association would like to thank the Government of Malawi and the Minister of Youth and Sports through the Malawi National Council of Sports for the support rendered to the team during this tournament,” the statement reads.
Nam also thanked Eris Properties for extra support to the senior side.
