National Bank awards best Unima students
Malawi Stock Exchange listed National Bank of Malawi (NBM) on Friday presented excellence awards to 15 students drawn from 15 faculties of the University of Malawi (Unima).
Each student went away with K250,000.
NBM Chief Executive Officer, Macfussy Kawawa, said the bank introduced the awards as one way of enhancing competition among Unima students.
He said the bank has been presenting the awards for over 30 years to motivate students to work hard.
“As a bank, we are happy to be associated with excellence and that is why we have been sponsoring these awards. We believe that education is the key to the success of any country, including Malawi”, Kawawa said.
He said NBM will continue sponsoring the awards in future.
Kawawa further urged the students not to become complacent but to continue working hard so that they complete their studies with flying colours.
Speaking on behalf of
Unima Vice Chancellor, Malawi Polytechnic Principal, Grant Kululanga, thanked NBM for their continued support to the university through the awards.
Kululanga said the awards have helped to increase the level of competition among students.
During the event, NBM also pledged to sponsor 20 students studying at the Malawi Polytechnic.
