National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc Thursday supported Parliament with K3.75 million towards the fifth Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (Sadc-PF) slated for July 7 to 16 2022.
NBM Capital City Service Centre Manager George Nyirenda said the bank was willing to be part of any effort being made to address challenges within Sadc region to improve people’s lives.
Nyirenda said the theme of the meeting, which is towards energy efficiency, sustainability and self sufficiency in the Sadc region, resonates well with the quest to industrialise and enhance manufacturing within Sadc member states.
“Energy is a key element in industrialisation and, so far, remains a major challenge within the Sadc region. These are the issues which member states indeed require coordination on to find lasting solutions,” he said.
He added that the bank nurtures the relationship it has with the Sadc secretariat.
“We want to make their stay comfortable by handling their banking needs whilst they are attending the conference,” he said
Clerk of Parliament Fiona Kalemba hailed the bank for the support
“The support will strengthen our capacity to host and instil confidence, in terms of our ability to host international events,” she said.
