Malawi’s biggest bank by assets, National Bank of Malawi, on Saturday dominated the 2016 Charted Institute of Marketers’ Excellence Awards held in Blantyre, scooping five accolades.
The Malawi S tock Exchange listed bank scooped the Outstanding SME Marketing Initiative of the Year 2016 award, Digital Marketing Initiative of the Year, Public Relations (PR) Project of the year, Marketing Game Changer of the Year while its Head of Strategy, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Wilkins Mijiga was named Marketer of the Year.
The NBM marketing supremo dedicated the awards to all the bank’s customers and stakeholders for making the institution great and special.
Mijiga also hailed the bank’s marketing team who are united in giving the customer the best experience in the market.
He also acknowledged the mentorship of his senior peers such as Maurice Newa, Marcus Chigoga and Vice President Saulos Chilima with who he had shared careers.
“Most importantly I thank the great leadership of the executive team at National Bank in the Name of George Partridge, the outgoing CEO of 2016, Macfussy Kawawa the current CEO as well as senior management peers for support and understanding towards the ideas and proposals from the marketing team,” said Mijiga.
He assured customers of National Bank of Malawi, both existing and new ones that the bank will continue to lead the industry with responsibility and professionalism full of integrity and innovativeness.
CIM Malawi President, Michael Khomani, said the gala night is held to recognise and promote excellence among the country’s marketers.
Khomani said his organisation believes that promoting excellence would help improve service delivery, thereby benefiting the customer.
NBM was established in 1971 as a result of a merger of Barclays Bank DCO (Dominion Colonial Overseas) and Standard Bank.
On August 21st 2000, the bank was listed on the MSE with an over subscription of 3.4 times.
