National Dance Troupe set to perform in India

The country’s National Dance Troupe is expected to fly the country’s flag next month in India.
The troupe formerly Kwacha National Dance Troupe has been instrumental in promoting and preserving the country’s culture through traditional dances.
The Department of Arts in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has since confirmed of National Dance Troupe’s performance in India.
A letter from Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Bertrand Khanyizira, dated January 16 2020 says the government of India would like Malawi’s participation at the 34th Annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela Festival scheduled for February 1-16 2020.
“You may wish to note that the government of India is exploring possibilities of showcasing additional cultural performances by the Malawian troupe in other provinces in India besides the Surajkund Festival. In this regard, the government of India is requesting for additional information in connection with the cultural troupe,” the letter reads in part.
National Dance Troupe is expected to leave the country this month end for the festival.
