National Food Reserve Agency bosses fired

Chief Executive Officer for the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA), Nasinuku Saukira and Director of Finance, Peter Salamba have been fired.
Board Chairperson for NFRA, Dennis Kalekeni said the two have been dismissed following an audit report that has exposed financial irregularities at the institution.
“I would like to confirm that the board decided to dismiss the Chief Executive and Director of Finance. This comes after an audit report revealed that about K611 million meant for maize purchase was used for other purposes,” said Kalekeni.
He said the report also revealed that NRFA money was used for an unintended purpose without the approval of the board of trustees or the Ministry of Agriculture which is the mother body of the organisation.
He also said the government grain storage organisation also handpicked a garage that was servicing the organisation’s fleet of cars without following procurement procedures.
Saukira and Salamba were not available for comment.
