National Registration Bureau sets March to finalise IDs distribution
The National Registration Bureau (NRB) will complete the distribution of National Identification cards in March next year, the bureau’s spokesperson, Norman Fulatira, said yesterday.
He said the distribution exercise has been finalised in the Central Region, adding that it is the turn of the Southern Region
“We are expecting to finish in the first three months of 2018. So, we are hopeful that, by March, the distribution exercise will be completed. This distribution is for those who were registered during the mass registration exercise,” Fulatira said.
Fulatira said the first batch of the IDs being distributed in the Southern Region is for six districts of Blantyre, Mwanza, Neno, Nsanje, Thyolo and Chiradzulu.
He said the bureau is expecting to have the second batch, covering remaining districts in the Southern Region, by January 12 2018.
On reported concerns of typing errors, Fulatira, said the bureau is aware of the problems and has called upon all citizens to report any ID with errors for corrections.
“Some typing errors are inevitable in huge exercises such as this one. But what we are saying is if one’s ID has incurred an error, he or she should collect the card. Later on, we shall announce time when people can go in respective NRB district offices for corrections,” he said.
