National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has supported Bankers Association of Malawi (Bam) with K5 million to go towards hosting of the Bankers Conference slated for next week in Mangochi.
The bank has also committed K2 million to the Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM) for its annual lakeshore conference.
Speaking when presenting a cheque to Bam, NBM Head of Digital and Financial Services William Kaunda said the bankers’ conference has always been essential in setting the tone for professionalism in the banking sector.
“We wanted to support and make sure that the conference is a success. It is also important to note that NBM is part of the bankers association; as such, every time there is an event there is a need to support them,” he said.
Bam Chief Operations Officer Chifundo Mmaniwa thanked the bank for the support.
After handing over a dummy cheque to IPMM earlier, NBM Head of Human Capital Chris Dulila said the bank places high value in human capital development, hence supporting the IPPM conference.
IPMM Executive Director Boniface Msesa said the support is timely.
The IPMM conference will be held under the theme ‘Embracing Professionalism, Integrity and Ethical Behaviour in a Changing World’.
