NBM supports Rotary Conference
National Bank of Malawi (NBM)has donated K2.5 million to Rotary International towards the forthcoming District Conference to take place from May 11 to 13 at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi.
Presenting the donation in Lilongwe on Thursday, the bank’s Senior Manager, Gladys Ganda, said over the years, the bank has consistently ploughed back part of its profit to the most deserving charitable causes in a society of which Rotary is one such organizations.
“We believe that this sponsorship will help and accelerate the services which you provide, especially to the less fortunate people in our midst. We are the ‘Bank of the Nation’ hence the welfare of the citizens to of this country, especially the underprivileged touches our heart most and we would like to assist where possible,” Ganda said.
She further explained that the bank is always proud of the services Rotary undertakes.
“Please continue the good work. As local clubs, please aim at earning an international reputation for assisting fellow human beings,” she added.
Rotary International District Conference convener, Joseph Chavula, hailed the bank for its continued support.
“We greatly appreciate the support from National Bank of Malawi and we hope the conference will be a success,” Chavula said.
The country will host Rotarians from District 9210 which comprises, Malawi , Zambia, Zimbabwe and Northern Mozambique.
Rotary International through its Financing Arm, The Rotary Foundation has been instrumental in the eradication of polio worldwide in collaboration with Unicef and other international organisations.
