Malawi Stock Exchange listed commercial bank, NBS Bank, on Tuesday gave away tobacco baling jacks to three winners in each of the country’s three regions during a draw of its Mgodi Wanga promotion held in Blantyre.
The draw saw Likhuku Burley Club of Mulanje, Ovias Gongowa of Lilongwe and Magaisa Phiri of Mzuzu carting home a baling jack each.
NBS Bank Head of Personal and Business Banking, Mercus Chigoga, said the K30 million promotion seeks to reward tobacco growers and transporters for doing business with the bank.
Chigoga said the bank is impressed with the excitement the promotion has generated so far.
“The promotion, whose grand prize is a brand-new Nissan single-cab pick-up, is aimed at encouraging tobacco farmers and transporters to save their money for the next growing season,” said Chigoga.
To enter the promotion, growers or transporters are expected to deposit a minimum of K100,000 in a fixed deposit account or K30,000 in an Easy Alimi account for a period up to October 20, 2015.
Apart from the pick-up, other prizes in the promotion included bags of fertiliser and ox-carts as well as branded T-Shirts.
