Nchalo United, Bullets Reserves lead

Nchalo United and Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves have consolidated their grip at the summit of their respective tiers in the Masters Security Southern Region Football Association league.

In the Premier Division, Nchalo are 15 points clear of second-placed Chikwawa United with 65 points from 27 games.

Chikwawa have 50 points from 23 points and hoped to cut Nchalo’s lead yesterday when they took on Nyasa United at Chiwembe Ground in Blantyre.

Chikwawa host Changalume Barracks on Saturday, but, Nchalo can extend their lead on the same day as they play Cobbe Barracks at Gymkhana Club in Zomba.

Chikwawa will continue to play catch-up on Sunday with a match against Michiru Madrid at home while their rivals are not in action.

Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves lead Division One, as they are six points clear with 69 points from 27 games, followed by Naming’omba’s 63 points from 28 games.

Bullets Reserves remain the only team to have hit the 100- goal mark as they have scored 114 goals and conceded 24 goals.

Nchalo are the Premier Division’s highest scorers with 70 goals against 26, but the club’s Team Manager, Beston Malunga, has called for caution.

“We must continue to fight and take each game as it comes. We want to earn promotion to the Super League but our rivals, Chikwawa United, also want to play in the top-flight league,” Malunga said.
