Former Flames midfielder Ndaziona Chatsalira displayed a solid performance as he scored the lone goal in Ferroviário de Nacala’s 1-0 victory over LD Maputo in Mocambola League over the weekend.

This was Chatsalira’s first goal of the season for the club.

In his post on Facebook, Chatsalira was excited.

“First goal of the season and maximum points. Expect more from me this season,” the former Silver Strikers and Escom United star wrote on his official account.

At the peak of his career, Chatsalira made headlines when he moved to Silver from Escom at a transfer fee of K6 million and he represented Malawi during the Cecafa Cup in Tanzania and Uganda.

Chatsalira, who netted seven goals in the 2019 season for Nacala and was on the verge of joining ENH but the deal did not materialise due to the coronavirus pandemic, is one of the longest serving Malawian players in Mozambique, having joined Ferroviário de Nampula alongside Schumacher Kuwali and Green Harawa in 2016.

Kuwali is now playing for Mozambique giants UD Songo whereas Harawa is with Chipiku League Premier Division side Mtsiliza United after he was released at Silver in 2019.

Meanwhile, Flames captain John Banda has also scored one goal for UD Songo this season whereas Kuwali is yet to open scoring account for the club.

New comers Black Bulls lead the log table with 16 points from six matches. Nacala are eighth with eight points from six matches whereas Songo are on position seven with nine points from the same number of games.
